KONSTANTINOS XENAKIS - STUCTURES & CODES

The researches of Konstantinos Xenakis are known both in Greece and abroad, though individual exhibitions and important bibliography.

About 60 of his works were presented in the exhibition, chronologically covering various periods of his career. Paintings were included (acrylics on canvas, gouache on paper), as well as various objects. In addition, a part of his kinetic works was presented.

Moreover, Herakleidon Museum proceeded to publish a catalog in two languages (Greek- English), which is available in the Shop, while throughout its duration, the exhibition was framed by events from the artist himself.

 

KONSTANTINOS XENAKIS

The poet-creator Konstantinos Xenakis was born in Cairo in 1931 and at the age of 21 he left to study in Europe. In 1955, he arrived in Paris to study architecture and interior design, where he decided to settle permanently. Since 1970, he has been teaching in Paris and Berlin. He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Europe and around the world. Since 1972, Konstantinos Xenakis had installed in his work, in a particularly explosive way for his time, the problems of communication and the difficulty of reading the standardized codes of social behavior, which respectively prohibit access to social functioning. By moving from the kinetic environment to the pictorial frame and from the primary structure of the particularly rich work of the gifted creator, who never stopped looking for new expressive ways that exude the authenticity and immediacy of a universal language.
