Welcome

"We believe in education and there is no better way for us to deliver this gift to thousands of students and visitors than through thoughtfully presented exhibits and programming."

— Paul Firos, Founder

The Herakleidon Museum — a private initiative founded by Pavlos and Belinda Fyros — was established in 2004 and, since 2008, has operated as a Non-Profit Civil Company. The Museum is housed in a restored neoclassical building at 16 Herakleidon Street, in the historic district of Thissio.

Since 2018, it has been presenting its permanent exhibition and collection “EUREKA: Science, Art and Technology of the Ancient Greeks” in collaboration with the Association for the Study of Ancient Greek and Byzantine Technology (EDAVYT).

The Museum’s mission is to explore the common ground and encourage creative dialogue among Science, Art, Technology, and Mathematics. Its exhibitions are accompanied by educational programs in Mathematics, Science, Artificial Intelligence, Archaeology, and more — designed for students of all levels.

In parallel, the Museum hosts a variety of cultural events for the general public, including talks, lectures, seminars, book presentations, music and literary evenings, art workshops for children and adults, and creative writing courses.

The Herakleidon Museum collaborates with museums and universities in Greece and abroad to organize exhibitions and educational programs. It welcomes partnerships and joint ventures and actively participates in European programs of all kinds.

The Museum was awarded by the Council of Europe and the European Commission within the framework of the European Heritage Days 2024 for its achievements in the field of storytelling, and it was selected as the honored institution by the Hellenic National Committee of ICOM for the year 2025.
